When you will be spending more waking hours with your coworkers than with nearly anyone else, you need to ask yourself "What is it like to work here?" Well, here are three things we think make Progress India a great place to work.
We've just opened a brand new office in the HITEC City area, near Madhapur. The office is on the fourth floor of the iLabs building, which sits on a hill overlooking the picturesque Durgam Chervu. The building has lots of covered parking and the cafeteria is located on the roof overlooking the lake, with Golconda Fort visible in the distance.
Unlike many MNCs, Progress India provides a lot of area per employee. In fact, a manager from a major company with offices in the same building visited recently and stated "You could fit a lot more people in here!" He's right, we could. But we didn't.
Our standard engineering workstations are high performance Dell workstations at 3.2Ghz or more with HT technology, 1GB RAM, and 19" LCD monitors. Managers and senior engineering staff have the option of a Dell D610 laptop with 1GB RAM, docking station, 19" LCD monitor, and external keyboard/mouse.
Employees with laptops can take advantage of our wireless network. Just undock, head to a conference room for a meeting or to our café for a chai, then open your laptop and keep on working - you're fully connected. And unlike some companies, Progress has an open Internet access policy based on trust, not external controls.
At Progress India, a candidate's attitude counts as much in the hiring process as their qualifications and experience. We look for people who not only excel at getting the job done, but people we'd enjoy getting the job done with. This has created an environment where many of us not only work together, but do things outside work together as well. See for yourself.
